Contact Rising Tide now to register or submit music for the evening CDR session
This one day event takes place on the18th February When we open the doors of Rising Tide to the young music community of Hackney. This day is ideal for all young people interested in making music, from bathroom singers and bedroom producers to superstar hopefuls.
This day is great for meeting other music makers and possibly develop collaborative partnerships.
Up a notch is targeted at those who want to know more about the music industry, producing and releasing music to get the best results.
Find out how industry artists make the majority of their income in today’s music industry and getting the best out of the internet.
The day
Up a notch Schedule:
11am – 12am
Morning Networking for young musicians, producers and vocalists – After a speed networking type activity for artists etc who want to work with producers and visa versa. All partnerships coming out of the networking session will be supported by Rising Tide by offering access to facilities.
Muso Mix
12pm – 3pm
Afternoon cross genre collaboration lead by the highly regarded classical pianist and composer Paul Gladstone Reid and guests.
Young people can bring their instruments and join the composition collaboration with the opportunity to perform in Ocean 2 later that evening.
Reason
12am – 1pm
An introduction to the Propellahead music production software.
Recording collaborations
1pm – 4pm
Throughout the day young people can go into the recording studio to add to an ongoing project, contributing voice, instrument.
Meet the producers
1pm – 2pm
Presented by a team of professional producers and musicians who work with leading pop artists in the UK and internationally.
Those attending will be able to find out what the industry looks like from inside and what they need to achieve at school, collage and professionally to develop a career in related fields.

6pm – 9pm
Live performance of earlier music mix session plus PAs and a CDR session of CDs submitted by local young producers.
Rising Tide adult evening classes
If you are aged between 16 and 99 you can apply for a place on one of our adult evening classes, which take place most week-day evenings from 7pm until 9pm. If you look in on the courses in the academy section of the site you can choose from a wide range of subjects. Rising Tide courses are subsidised to offer wider community access, although Hackney residents may be eligible for an addition reduction through our partnership with the Learning Trust.

Rising Records
If you are aged 13 – 18 you can become an artist on our summer record label project, starting in July 2008. If you are a singer, MC, producer, writer, musician, band or interested in music management contact us now to register for a place.
The Rising Records project ends with a live performance in Ocean and possible recordings on the summer album released in September 2008.

Chair receives MBE
2007 saw the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Paul Gladstone Reid receive an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list for his services to music and the community.
Venue related job training
We have launched a series of venue related courses for people who want to learn how to stage manage, run a sound or lighting rig in an international live music venue.
Ocean Music Venue offers a perfect space to learn industry specific practices to be used to obtain work within the music industry or to enhance your current skills.
