Sampling Culture is a pilot being developed by Rising Tide funded through Hackney One Love. The aim of Sampling Culture in to develop understanding of culturally traditional instruments whilst using technology to create new music.
Through this project we were able to bring young producers from around Hackney to take part in a week of projects where they learnt about the Saz (a plucked instrument popular in Turkish and Kurdish folk music) and the Djembe (A drum popular in West African music).

rapLabel

The Label programme is a development opportunity for young people who are interested in business and music. Currently we are delivering the programme extensively to young people at risk of offending or exclusion.

This programme uses record label and music industry training to engage young people into a process of accredited learning, citizenship and leadership development and youth enterprise while supporting local youth provision and its use by young people.

RAP is a national programme that is funded through The Youth Justice Board. It works with vulnerable young offenders leaving custody to support their re-integration. By offering intensive, practical help and support, RAP offers these young people the stability they need to make a fresh start and stay out of trouble.

Aims to give the music industry’s back bone some additional support.
By developing packages with the UKs leading musicians and producers, those that regularly work with the music industries house hold names, but aren’t themselves seen as celebrities.

Based around live music events, this initiative will create additional work opportunities, the chance to give back to the community and the ability for them to become celebrities in their own right.

For those musicians and producers who have signed up for the first phase of AMAPs, the aim is to identify specific activities and investment to raise the game of the UK musician’s profile.

AMAP.uk roster:

Nikki Brown, Julien Brown, Sound Boy, Steve Anthony, Andrew Smith, Jerry Brown, Andrew Small, Eddie Martin,
